Green Line Format and Dates of the 55th Japanese Academy of Budo Conference (No.1)
 
Dear Japanese Academy of Budo Members,
After careful consideration and taking into account the situation regarding new COVID-19 infections, the Board of Directors have decided that the 55th Japanese Academy of Budo conference will be held in a face-to-face format.
The conference will be conducted according to the following schedule.

Dates: Saturday September 3 and Sunday September 4, 2022
*Board of Directors and Board of Trustees Meeting is planned for Friday September 2, 2022.
Venue: Toin University of Yokohama
Conference Format: Face-to-face
Presentation Types: Oral presentation (Humanities / Natural Sciences / Budo Instruction) and poster presentation

Regarding applications for general research presentations, and the Board of Trustees Meeting and General Meeting, information will be posted on the Japanese Academy of Budo homepage, special conference website, and sent by email at a later date.
The special conference website will become available on this homepage around the middle of May.

Green Line Changes to the format and dates of the 54th Japanese Academy of Budo Conference
 
We are sure that all Academy members have been very busy among the various rules and regulations that have been implemented due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

During the board of directors meeting held on March 27 and the extraordinary board of directors meeting held in writing with April 5 as the reply due date, we carefully considered how to hold the 54th Japanese Academy of Budo Conference.

In view of the current situation in which the COVID-19 outbreak is not yet under control, and because of the schedule of other related conferences, it has been decided that the 54th conference will be held online and hosted by the Academy headquarters, as was the case last year. Conference details are as follows:

Schedule
- Conference period: Monday September 6 to Sunday September 12 (Special conference website period)
- Q&A days: Friday September 10 and Saturday October 11

Format
- General presentations will be on-demand, in the same manner as last year.
- Events planned by the Academy headquarters will be conducted either by live streaming or on-demand.

Details regarding applications for general research presentations, as well as board and general meetings, will be announced at a later date.

To All Members and Presenters,

Due to the various restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Japanese Academy of Budo has been carefully considering what kind of event is appropriate for the 53rd Japanese Academy of Budo Conference. As a result, we have decided that the conference will not be held in person, but will instead be conducted in an “online format”. Details of how the conference will be held online will be published on the Japanese Academy of Budo’s homepage as soon as they are confirmed. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Information Regarding the 2013 International Budo Conference by the Japanese Academy of Budo

●To All Participants
1. Reception will be on the 2F of the Institute of Health and Sport Sciences (building 5C) at the times below:
Tuesday, September 10~ 10:00-16:30
Wednesday, September 11~ 08:00-16:30
Thursday, September 12~ 08:00-11:30
Members are requested to pay the conference participation fee at reception (full members − 5000 yen; student members − 3000 yen)

2. Participants will be given a name badge which they should wear for the duration of the conference. Participants who do not wear a name badge may be refused admission to the presentations.
* Participants from overseas : At reception please register, and pay the entrance fee of 5000 yen (3000 yen for students), and take a name badge and research presentation abstracts.

3. Participants who have not yet paid their membership fee for 2013 are requested to pay together with the conference fee.

4. For temporary members: At reception please register as a temporary member, and pay the entrance fee of 5000 yen (3000 yen for students), and take a name badge and research presentation abstracts. With the exception of attendance at the general meeting, temporary members will receive the same treatment as a full member.

5. Members are requested to bring their research presentation abstracts. Programs will not be distributed.

6. The dining hall will be open for the duration of the conference.

7. Participants who need accommodation at the conference are requested to make their own arrangements. (Please see http://www.budo.ac/budo46_syukuhaku_J.html for more information.)

●To All Presenters
☆The program has been uploaded to the Japanese Academy of Budo homepage. For those that are presenting at the conference, please check the date and time of your presentation.

1. There are two types of presentation: oral presentations and poster presentations
The oral presentations are 12 minutes with a 3-minute Q&A session.
The poster sessions have a Q&A session if the need arises.

2. Presenters that have materials to be handed out, please hand them to the reception at the appropriate presentation venue.

3. To presenters in the Oral Presentation Session
* Please complete registration at the appropriate venue no later than one hour before the start of the presentation session. At that time, please submit the following materials: - Handouts (100 copies)
- If using data like a PowerPoint presentation, please bring your own computer.
* If using a Macintosh computer, a conversion connector is necessary.
* Please also bring a VGA adaptor and a power adaptor.
* Please follow the instructions given by the chairperson.
* The presentation time is 12 minutes followed by a 3 minute Q&A session (15minutes in total).
* Alarms will be made in the following order:
 1. Two minutes before the end of the presentation.
 2. To signal the end of the presentation and start of the Q&A session.
 3. To signal the end of the Q&A session.

4. To presenters in the Poster Session
* The Q&A session will be held at the following times:
Wednesday September 11, 10:30-11:30
Thursday September 12, 10:30-11:30
* Please complete registration at the appropriate venue before 09:00, and post on the designated notice board.

5. Changes to the presenter cannot be made. However, in the case of illness or other unavoidable circumstances, please contact the Japanese Academy of Budo immediately and follow instructions.

●To All Chairpersons
1. For the presentation session that you are supervising, please report to the presentation venue reception no later than 30 minutes before the start.
2. During the question and answer session, please instruct questioners to state their name and affiliation, and to keep their questions brief.
3. Please keep the session on time.

●Proceedings Information
1. For participants who are presenting in the International Session or the Poster Session, please submit an English manuscript for publication in the proceedings. The deadline is September 12,  2013.

2. Participants who are presenting in Japanese can submit an English manuscript for publication in the proceedings. The deadline is September 30, 2013.

3. Submissions are all online, whether domestic or international.

4. If writing in English, please write approximately 900 words (two A4 pages). Please see the “Proceedings Submission Guidelines” below.

5. If including charts, diagrams or illustrations, use no more than three. Adjust the word count so that the document is no more than two A4 pages.

6. The template for writing documents to be included in the Proceedings will be available around August 21, 2013, on the Japanese Academy of Budo homepage. Please use that template.

7. The editorial and planning committees of the Japanese Academy of Budo will check that the documents submitted for inclusion in the Proceedings meet the requirements for publication. Writers may be asked to make corrections.

☆Proceedings Submission Guidelines
* The title font should be in bold 12pt. Times New Roman text.

* The main body of text font should be in 10pt. Times New Roman.

* Please limit to two A4 pages if including charts, diagrams or illustrations.

* Set the margins to: top - 25mm; bottom - 25mm; left - 22mm; right - 22mm.

* Write the affiliation below the researcher’s name. Number the affiliation if there is more than one and then write that number next to the researcher’s name.

At the 46th conference, added to the conventional presentation fields of humanities, natural sciences and instruction, there will also be an “International Session”. The “International Session” and the “Poster Presentation” will be conducted in English. Furthermore, the registration of abstracts (500 words) will also be in English. The other fields will require an abstract in Japanese (1000-2000 characters) with an English title and an English abstract (200 words).
